eMac G4/700
With Swivel Base
Circa 2003Fully Operational
Historical Context
The eMac was Apple's answer to a market reality: schools needed CRTs because CRTs were cheaper, but Apple had abandoned CRTs for LCDs. Apple built one final CRT-based all-in-one, originally sold only to education, then opened to consumers after they asked loudly enough. The flat-face 17" Trinitron was among the best displays Apple ever shipped on a sub-$1,000 machine.
