Motorola StarMax 4000/160
No outer case, no PSU
Historical Context
The Motorola StarMax 4000 captures a strange but important moment in Apple history: the brief mid-1990s era when Apple officially licensed Macintosh clones to outside manufacturers. As Motorola’s higher-end StarMax model, it showed how clone makers could offer Mac-compatible systems with more standard PC-style features and aggressive pricing, but it also became part of the experiment Steve Jobs shut down in 1997 when Apple ended the clone program.
